Role Overview:

The Assistant Manager – Purchase & Sales Planning will be responsible for end-to-end procurement and sales forecasting, ensuring alignment between demand and supply to optimize inventory and enhance operational efficiency. The role requires expertise in vendor management, demand planning, procurement strategies, and cross-functional collaboration to meet business objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

Purchase & Procurement Management

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely purchasing.
  • Identify and negotiate with suppliers to optimize pricing, lead times, and quality.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor purchase orders, delivery timelines, and supplier performance.
  • Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and availability.

Sales Planning & Forecasting

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to analyze historical data and market trends for accurate demand forecasting.
  • Develop sales plans based on customer demand, inventory levels, and production capabilities.
  • Ensure effective inventory management by balancing stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
  • Align purchase plans with sales projections to optimize cash flow and minimize risks.

Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination

  • Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
  • Implement systems to track inventory levels and forecast future requirements.
  • Ensure timely replenishment of stock based on demand fluctuations.
  • Monitor and improve stock rotation, reducing obsolete inventory and minimizing carrying costs.

Process Optimization & Reporting

  • Leverage ERP/SAP systems to manage procurement, inventory, and sales planning data efficiently.
  • Generate periodic reports on purchase trends, inventory levels, and sales performance.
  • Continuously review and optimize procurement and sales planning processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Identify risks and implement contingency plans for supply chain disruptions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with finance teams for budget approvals and cost analysis.
  • Work closely with operations and production teams to ensure seamless execution of supply and demand planning.

The role requires strong analytical skills, vendor management expertise, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Source and evaluate vendors based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure smooth operations.

Inventory & Warehouse Management

  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts and excess inventory.

Job Description

This position requires a blend of problem-solving skills, analytical skills and strong stakeholder management with commercial mindset to improve ABU’s bottom line & drive pricing excellence with Product specialist, APR managers & sales team.

Dimensions:

1. Pricing Analytics & Competitor intelligence:

o To review historical trend and to provide forward looking trends on margins.

o To provide price recommendations based on various parameters such as but not limited to historical trends, project size pricing, segmented models etc.

o Maintenance of competitor intelligence database & historical simulation. Also recommend pricing actions based on that.

o Line wise profitability analysis at cogs level & develop a P&L model to arrive at line wise financial health

2. Price Support Review:

o Price support reviews for effectiveness in driving sales performance using different statistical approaches. (such as discount/rebates analysis and tactical pricing such as ad-hoc discounts)

o To conduct PIR (Post Investment Review) for large project orders keeping in mind the payment cycle.

3. Margin Alert:

o To review low and negative margin Customer-SKUs (Stock Keeping Unit) including root-cause and trend analysis.

o Track Pricing vs COGS & FX movements and recommend pricing actions to offset shortfall, if required.

o Mid-month margin alert on SKUs with poor performance using root-cause

4. Performance Benchmarking:

o Review prices of runner SKUs across product family and align with price maps

o Review internal pricing against external competitors

o Review of OEM, SI, EU & Channel within APR and across ABU

5. Update prices in DMAP (Deal Management and Pricing):

o Develop a special price approval process for ABU – SPAR

o Special price updates in SAP and check against target margins

o Evaluate floor prices at customer-SKU level to identify value leakages

o Arrive at back stop pricing by customer line (OEM, EU, Dealer) etc for ease of offer submission

Requirements:

· Automation business knowledge/experience preferred

· Excellent financial and business analytical skills with ability to see beyond the numbers

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work efficiently in a team environment.

· Good working knowledge on MS-Excel and other related tools

· Ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities
